For this project my team was assigned a patient named Djimon Hounsou whom we diagnosed with developmental hip dysplasia. Djimon struggled with bilateral hip pain, frequent hip dislocations while doing menial tasks, and an inability to walk more than fifteen minutes at a time. He had received six previous hip surgeries, however all hardware had been removed from his right side.
My team was tasked with designing a custom hip implant that would limit dislocations and allow Djimon to return to his active lifestyle.
